Our practices include planting native flowers, creating ‘No Mow Zones’, and partnering with local organizations. Together, we can protect and preserve these creatures – one garden at a time.

What if every yard in a neighborhood stopped the expensive and deadly pesticide foggers/barriers/yard sprays

to opt for a Mosquito Bucket of Doom? The Mosquito Bucket of Doom is a name for the old Bti bucket trick, which has been around for years.


Winter Plant Damage

When a flash freeze occurs in Middle Tennessee it kills many exotic evergreen shrubs. Naturalist and author, Joanna Brichetto, makes a strong appeal for choosing certain deciduous and evergreen shrubs in her article, “Skip the Skip Laurel, Say No to Nandina: Choose Native”.


Why plant native trees?

The Ghertner & Company Arboretum, located at our corporate office in Nashville, includes over forty species of trees so far, and is still growing. Our goal is to support local biodiversity by featuring trees that are native to Middle Tennessee.


Monarchs

Many of us have childhood memories of beautiful creatures with wings like stained glass flying around our backyard. Unfortunately, a monarch sighting these days is rare because this majestic butterfly is in serious trouble.
