Position Title:  

Accounting Generalist

Position Purpose: 

The Accounting Generalist will perform a variety of general accounting support tasks in our accounting department.

Primary/Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Accurate and timely assignment of general ledger codes to invoices within systems.

  2. Accurately verify state of cash flow prior to final release of invoices for payment by association.

  3. Verify receipt of proper documentation for reserve transfers.

  4. Accurately process checks and invoices for payment. 

  5. Set up of new vendors according to established process, includes collecting vendor package information; upload vendor information into systems and documenting expiration dates of all insurance.

  6. Verify proper documentation of HOA debit card transactions; resolve any outstanding items

  7. Respond to inquiries on payment status of invoices and seek resolution

  8. Accurate and timely mailings of vendor 1099’s.

  9. Assist with completion of worker’s comp audit questions and requested documents for all associations.

  10. Communicate with customers (internal and external) via phone, email, mail or personally.

  11. All other duties or projects as assigned. 

 Knowledge & Skill Requirements: 

  • Education - Two-year degree in Accounting and/or Finance or related field or equivalent industry experience (Minimum of three years’ experience with proven job responsibility progression)

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to stop and start a task with multiple interruptions

  • Administrative skills – ability to be nice and courteous even when someone is angry or upset

  • Microsoft Office-Word & Excel

  • Exceptional customer service skills…verbal and written

  • Team worker

  • Experience with working in accounting systems and maintaining electronic files

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
